Over the last few days, Roblox's 2026 Developers Conference was held in San Jose, California, and one of Roblox CEO David Baszucki's on-stage introduction's hit something of a hitch. Roblox YouTuber Mathieo took to the stage shouting, "We deserve better, don't we deserve better," while revealing a shirt that read "Kids deserve better," until he was quickly tackled and escorted out.

Baszucki played the incident off in the moment, saying "We all get a little excited when RDC comes along, as we just saw." But it was shared online by X user bearpuppyrbx, prompting a quote-repost from Mathieo himself—"just got kicked out #rdc26 💔," he wrote. He explained his stunt the same day in a short YouTube video uploaded to his channel.

"I know there's a lot of people that really love RDC, and I'm glad people are enjoying themselves," he said in the video. "My issue isn't with the people. I just do believe that Roblox [Corporation] isn't as dumb as they say they are … everybody's saying they don't want AI. Everybody's saying they don't want these faces messed up. Everybody wants better child safety.

"Every single slow year of progress is just another year where children are actually affected."

Roblox's dubious child safety measures have been criticized for a number of years. It has recently introduced child accounts in an attempt to address the issue, the US Senate is actively investigating the platform, and legislation like the EU's Digital Services Act aim to force Roblox Corporation's hand in protecting minors.

The game has been called a "pedophile hellscape" by one investment firm, and Baszucki has put his foot in his mouth on this several times in the past—take, for instance, that time he suggested Roblox become a dating hub, or that disastrous interview he had with the New York Times where he suggested "the problem of predators on Roblox" was "not necessarily just as a problem, but an opportunity as well."

"We've seen that telling them just doesn't work," Mathieo said in the video. "It's been many years now where this has been a really prevalent issue. And while they're 'finding a fix,' there's probably a lot of kids that have been harmed on Roblox recently."

I have reached out to the Roblox Corporation for comment on the incident, and will update this story if I hear back.
