Konami's newly released Silent Hill: Townfall steps out of the titular town of Silent Hill, this time heading for the fictional Scottish town of St. Amelia. This isn't a first for the series, with last year's Silent Hill f being another example, taking place in 1960's rural Japan. Taking place outside of Silent Hill itself seems to be the direction going forward as alluded by series producer Motoi Okamoto, believing Silent Hill is more of a phenomenon rather than strictly a location. Through exploring other settings culture, interpretations on isolation, as well as how they explore the idea of inescapable trauma, the Silent Hill series displays potential when set in a different setting outside of its titular town.
