This co-op clown cacophony crams over 80 minigames into a single videogame

You know the classic clown car gag, where a seemingly infinite number of clowns exit a comically small car? Well, Clowntown is like that but in videogame form. In a world premiere trailer that just debuted at the PC Gaming Show we got a look at a ton of the minigames on offer in this co-op party game.

I've sunk hundreds of hours into Ultimate Chicken Horse and Jackbox—lockdown was rough, okay?—but as fun as they are, they can feel a tad repetitive when you're on hour four in a single session. That shouldn't be a problem here, because there are over 80 minigames to get stuck into.

Made for two to eight players, Clowntown features campaigns that string a bunch of minigames together. One of them is a platforming obstacle course where you can't touch another player or you're sent back to the start, so you'd better be polite and let everyone take their time. There's also a canvas you have to paint together, and as a bad solo artist at the best of times, I can only imagine how terrible I'll be on a group project.

One of the core tenets of the game is to keep us all on our toes, so the minigames evolve and introduce new twists as you go through them, like adding an NPC saboteur spraying paint all over your pretty picture.

If you don't have a lot of time to sit down and get through an entire campaign's worth of games, though, you can hop into various party modes and just play a few minigames instead. If you're feeling chummy, you can play purely co-op, where you'll all be trying to win together. If you're feeling dastardly, there's a competitive mode where teams will be scored separately. And if you want to be downright cruel, there's a mode that only puts you into the PvP minigames so you'll all compete directly.
