Weapons in video games are a dime a dozen and, therefore, play an important part in how said game is received. Swords, guns, bombs, whips; sometimes, these weapons are what make a game famous, playing such important roles that they become a fixture of a fandom. This is the case for many games, including some of my favorites, like the space-bending Portal Gun from Portal, the heavy-hitting Plasma Cutter from Dead Space, or the iconic relic that is the Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda franchise. First-person shooters, in particular, tend to have iconic arsenals, since gameplay relies heavily on weaponry to get players through tough combat.
