Unlike bank transfers, they offer bad actors exactly what they need — instant, irreversible transactions, near-total anonymity, and a seamless path to laundering stolen funds into cold, hard cash. Google Play and Apple are commonly used to siphon funds over the phone, but gaming platforms like Steam aren't exempt. Things have gotten so bad, in fact, that Valve has decided to pull the plug on selling physical gift cards from retail stores globally.
