But by selling 14 million copies of a game over the course of a year, Embark Studios turned a genre known for chewing up newcomers and spitting them out into an instantly recognizable phenomenon, and I'd bet other genres might be liable to pop off in that same way. And after looking over the list of 2026's upcoming releases, Bit Reactor's Star Wars Zero Company is the horse I'm betting on: if it can replicate even a fraction of that level of appeal, it could allow the turn-based tactics genre to break into the mainstream harder than ever before.
