Sony Releases Surprise New PS4 Console Update for September 2026

Sony has released a brand-new update for its PlayStation 4 console that users can download right now. The PlayStation 4 was first released in 2013 and was a massive success for Sony right out of the gate. While the PS3 had a slow start sales-wise, the PS4 had no problem dominating its competition, demolishing the Wii U and Xbox One to become one of the best-selling video game consoles of all time. Considering how big of a hit the PS4 has proven to be, it's no surprise that Sony has continued supporting it years after the PS5 was first released.
