Roblox has unveiled a raft of new features at its developer conference, including plans that could see Roblox experiences ship as standalone apps outside the main Roblox client.

Under the banner Roblox Everywhere, creators will soon be able to package their games as independent apps for mobile, PC and console, with Roblox handling the backend. Roblox has not given a timeline for when the first standalone experiences might arrive, or detailed exactly how or where they’ll be distributed.

Offline play is coming too. Creators will be able to build a solo mode alongside multiplayer in the same game, though it won’t be fully available until mid-2027 and after an early access period.

2D and puzzle games are getting dedicated support for the first time, through new engine features including an orthographic camera, animated image containers and direct sprite-sheet import. UI upgrades like blur, text shadows and improved gradients are on the way, too. Turn-based, asynchronous multiplayer games are getting a new notification system and will be tested in Studio Beta in October ahead of a full release before the end of the year.

There’s more for Build users, too. Build, the prompt-based game creation tool, is taking its trial run beyond New Zealand and into Serbia and Singapore. Creators using Build will get more control over their projects, with a new asset library and the ability to build from desktop among the additions. They can already review performance data and set up monetisation, and will soon be able to launch ads from their phones too. Roblox puts the number of games published through Build at close to 9,000 so far, and says the majority of those creators, 71%, had never used Roblox Studio before.

Furthermore, later this year, a new Scene Generator tool will let creators turn a prompt and reference image into a ready-made layout in Build or Studio, which they can then refine and develop further in Studio.

Roblox is also introducing Roblox Wallet, a financial account with a third-party partner that pays creator earnings out daily in real currency. It’s expected to roll out in the US later this year, with a companion Roblox Card letting creators spend that balance directly. Wallet is expected to expand to other countries next year, with Roblox Card following in 2027.

Discovery is changing too. Roblox is testing a new ranking metric based on the number of first-time players a game pulls onto the platform, rather than just short-term engagement. Roblox creators have made more than $5 billion through DevEx since its 2013 launch, with around $1.7 billion of that earned in the past year alone.

Last month, Roblox revealed a new avatar compositing technology called Slim, designed to let more complex avatars run at high performance on low-end Android devices.
