Reform UK has launched a ‘stop the boats’ game in its iOS and Android app

Far-right political party Reform UK has launched a new iOS and Android app called Small Boat Watch. It contains a game in which players are asked to repel small boats carrying immigrants from reaching British shores to get a high score.

The game, Small Boat Scramble, only appears in the app once you have signed up using your email, exited the app and then opened it up again. A ‘Play’ tab appears in the bottom menu at that point.

In Small Boat Scramble players bounce small boats back across the screen to repel them. A little way into the game, a larger ‘Boris wave’ of boats appears, a regular Reform party line that refers to the increased number of immigrants that entered the UK under former prime minister Boris Johnson.

At the time of writing the game had 6,524 players on its leaderboard. Reports across the British press suggest there is a £5,000 prize for the game’s top scorer, though that is not referenced anywhere in the app itself, as far as we could see.

Both the app and game are very basic and appear to have been coded using Claude or a similar AI coding tool, as the UI is similar to the many other hobbyist apps flooding the app stores currently.

The Reform game follows on from the series of MAGA-style games the Trump White House released on its website recently. The games featured far-right reworkings of popular mobile games like Snake and Flappy Bird, and also appear to have been made using AI tools.
