Leonard Nimoy is famous the world over as Mr. Spock, but in many ways, he's also Mr. Star Trek. From the moment he played the pointy-eared Vulcan in The Original Series pilot in 1966 to his death in 2015, Nimoy was — much like his on-screen character — the perfect ambassador for the franchise. As Spock is perhaps the most instantly recognizable of all Trek characters, Nimoy often dropped by and reprised his role to support new iterations of the franchise, such as The Next Generation or the Kelvin timeline movies. He was also no stranger to heaping praise on the work of his Trek co-stars and colleagues behind the scenes. In other words, Nimoy was as big a Star Trek fan as the rest of us.
