A lot of games are basically escort missions dressed up in a fancy way. But in Hello Sunshine, that dynamic is flipped on its head, and you become the little sidekick that needs protecting. We just unveiled a new trailer during the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct that expands on the relationship between the Nomad and the giant robot who provides them with shelter.
In the survival game, you take on the role of the Nomad, the final employee of the Sunshine Corporation that left the world a scorched ruin. In this new trailer, we hear them admit responsibility for what has happened, which is how you know you're playing a videogame, because in real life, no corpo ever admits fault.
Wishlist Hello Sunshine on Steam
Release date: 2027
Hello Sunshine's latest trailer gives us a closer look at the relationship between the Nomad and the giant robot they follow through the corporate desert. Wishlist the game on Steam.
Wishlist nowI've loved the whole vibe of this game since I first saw it in the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted last year, and the more I learn, the more I look forward to it. By day, the Nomad follows the robot towards a colossal tower and scavenge for resources and clues as to how exactly the world ended. Venturing too far away causes the sun to damage you, but as you progress, you'll be able to go on longer voyages away from the bot.
At night, the temperature plummets, and the machine stops to recharge. You can upgrade your gear and make repairs to your companion, and you'll now need to stay near it for warmth.
It's clear the relationship between these two characters is central to the game. "Without you, I'd be dead," the Nomad says in the new trailer. I wonder if it'll ever speak back.
We've got to wait a while before we find out, as Hello Sunshine isn't out until next year, 2027. If you want to stay up to date with it, wishlist the game on Steam.
