Like most huge fans of the series, I've long had a bone to pick with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. 2011’s Xbox 360 remaster from 343 Industries brought the shooter classic back to life in all the wrong ways, often adding extra graphical touches purely because the developers could, rather than honoring the original art direction. It still plays wonderfully, but the bastardization of Bungie’s space opera melancholy meant many of us played it once and never again. It has become a lesson in how not to remaster Halo.
