Guild Wars 3 is easily my favourite announcement of this year’s packed event season, and with the promise of a playable beta as early as Autumn 2027, I’m crossing my fingers it delivers a successor to one of the all-time greats. It feels like the modern MMO is experiencing a long, drawn-out death right now, as multiple cancellations and delays have soured any sort of hope I once had for the genre, and despite the continued strength of games like World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy 14 and Old School RuneScape, it'd be lovely to just have something new. Guild Wars 3 is the perfect antidote.
