Gameloft is sunsetting its long-running Minions game, Minion Rush.

The game will be withdrawn from app stores and have in-app purchases disabled on October 30, and servers will be shut down on January 29, 2027. Players who already have the game will be able to play online up until the servers go dark and offline afterwards, but there will be no further content updates.

To mark the game’s end, there’ll be a “special farewell event” running for the month of October and some prices and rewards “may be adjusted” during the game’s final months.

The team did not expand upon why the game was closing down, but said in a FAQ: “Since its release in 2013, Minion Rush has been enjoyed by a dedicated community and we hope you had a lot of fun playing the game.”

“Unfortunately, our run is indeed coming to an end. As the mobile gaming landscape continues to evolve, we have made the difficult decision to wind down our services on January 29, 2027.”

According to AppMagic estimates, the 13-year-old casual platformer has been downloaded almost 500m times and generated over $45.7m from in-app purchases.
