Fingersoft has ended development of Lego Hill Climb Adventures, its Lego-licensed racing game.
The Finnish studio behind Hill Climb Racing announced the decision in a LinkedIn post, saying it had “found a hill too steep to conquer”. It said the game hadn’t performed well enough to sustain a long-term free-to-play title.
No employees are being let go. The team is moving into Fingersoft’s prototyping team, where it will help work on the studio’s future games.
More details are available on its website, where the studio confirms that in-app purchases will be removed by October 23, and the game itself will be pulled from the App Store and Google Play on December 15.
“We’re incredibly proud of what weâve created. But every great adventure must come to an end, which is why weâve made the difficult decision to end the development of the free-to-play version of the game,” the team said.
Players will be able to keep playing “into 2027”, but the exact information will be shared “closer to that time”. The IAP-free version, Lego Hill Climb Adventures+, will still be playable on Apple Arcade.
Lego Hill Climb Adventures launched on iOS and Android in 2024. AppMagic estimates it has generated around $475k in that time, and been downloaded 3.6m times.
