Dust till Dawn is a horror-themed clean-'em-up with music from Silent Hill's composer

At first glance you could be forgiven for thinking Dust till Dawn was a simple cleaning game. Early into the World Premiere trailer, showing the game off for the very first time during the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct, it seems very mundane at first glance as you clean your way around a Japanese apartment, little cash amounts floating off of each item as you scrub it and put it back in place.

Then, it twists and music from Akira Yamaoka, composer of the Silent Hill games, kicks in and you see the dual nature of Dust till Dawn, which is not just a cleaning game but also a horror, somehow. Don't worry though, you'll still be asked to clean to the best of your ability, even as everything goes to hell around you.

I find eyes unspeakably creepy, despite having several of them tattooed on me, and as a result Dust till Dawn's trailer, which is pretty big on spooky peepers, terrifies me. I'm quite a big fan of the game's aesthetic, which has twisting geometry and early 90s stylings that make it feel like the classic Japanese horror movies of yesteryear. Not that I'll be able to play it, because in addition to being terrified of spooky eyes, I'm also scared of horror games in general, and this looks to be a fairly effective one.

Dust till Dawn comes from Mac n Cheese Games, also developing the "nuns in space" survival horror Void Martyrs. With Dust till Dawn, with an elevator pitch of "Spooky Clean 'Em Up", Mac n Cheese seem to be nailing the one sentence reasons to play its horror games.
