Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is right around the corner, and it's expanding the base game in a massive way with its new Norgan region. Norgan is an icy, harsh northern location that is being teased as a challenging, but fascinating, new area to explore. A fresh map area to explore in Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen could mark a new era for the game, and what's even more intriguing is that Norgan will also bring some changes to Pawns. Most map expansions just add more surface area to the game. Norgan is subverting expectations, though, by focusing on verticality over horizontal design, meaning that a player's Pawns have to respond accordingly.
