Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a bona fide JRPG classic, but it also looks like ass. The Nintendo Switch exclusive was first released in late 2017 to rave reviews from critics such as myself — god, I’ve been doing this for way too long — but was rightfully lambasted for its poor performance and image quality. It felt like you were watching a YouTube video in 360p instead of falling in love with a beautiful world at times, but thankfully its terrific art design shined through where it mattered most, not to mention an excellent cast of characters we wanted to root for.
