Star Wars Had to Undo One of Its Biggest Darth Maul Mistakes

When the first details were revealed for Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Darth Maul seemed to grab the fan base's attention more than any other new character. After three movies in which Darth Vader served as the sole apprentice to Emperor Palpatine, viewers were about to be introduced to a whole new Sith Lord. Maul was plastered across merchandise and promotional items, and the villain seemed like a major addition to the franchise. Unfortunately, the villain's potential was immediately squandered.
