SciPlay has cut around 20 jobs at its Israeli development hub, according to Calcalist – that’s roughly 7% of the approximately 300 people working there.

SciPlay Games Israel is the studio behind several of the company’s biggest earners, including Quick Hit Slots, 88 Fortunes and Hot Shot Casino. The Ramat Gan-based team builds free-to-play social casino games under licensed Las Vegas casino brands for parent company Light & Wonder, and accounts for around a third of SciPlay’s global headcount.

Roles there span the full development pipeline, from engineering and product through to data, UI/UX and marketing.

The cuts follow a separate round of layoffs SciPlay made in June, when the company told MobileGamer it had eliminated “a limited number of roles” as part of a strategic review.

That round followed a 7% year-on-year revenue drop to $187m for the first quarter, with Light & Wonder flagging a “challenged” social casino market. SciPlay has yet to confirm if this latest round in Israel is connected to that same review.
