In my eight-year career as a games journalist, I've never seen a news cycle so vehemently anti-PlayStation. That's not to say there's an inherent bias in favor of Sony—usually, Xbox is the one drawing flak because Xbox is the one smashing itself in the head repeatedly with a hammer. But with Sony ceasing production on physical discs from 2028 onwards—while simultaneously closing digital storefronts—it's no wonder the internet is on fire. The prospect of a next-gen console landscape where Sony holds all the cards sets an alarming precedent.
