Last month, the online group Does It Play?, known for championing physical media, suggested a one-week PlayStation blackout in protest of Sony axing game discs from 2028 onwards. This snowballed into a tangible plan, with many agreeing that they would swear off their consoles in August to show their frustration. It's well-intentioned, but the move was quickly met with scrutiny because of the time limit. After all, a boycott only works if the company fears it will become the norm. It can easily wait out a deadline, especially one as short as seven days.
