Indie game demos can feel like a bit of a lottery at times, or, as Forrest Gump would put it, a box of chocolates, simply because you really don't know what you're going to get once you launch them. However, I just stumbled upon one of the most charming, most promising indie demos I've played in recent memory, and after just 10 minutes with it, I was already sold and convinced that I needed more of Lou's Lagoon in my life. The upcoming cozy exploration-and-crafting adventure launches on August 27, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, and takes the cozy crafting gameplay and whimsical personality of Animal Crossing, hinges its core gameplay loop on familiar Slime Rancher mechanics, and even throws in some Zelda: Wind Waker-style exploration to top it all off.
