Marvel's Wolverine already has a lot going against it as a Sony title, after the brand announced its pursuit of an all-digital future at the cost of physical media, but now Marvel itself has gone and upped the ante during the game's panel at SDCC, setting an impossible standard for Insomniac's upcoming version of the clawed superhero. In a recent video post on IGN's official X account, content creator Sarthe gave a brief, spoiler-free breakdown of what he and other attendees learned at the Marvel's Wolverine SDCC panel, stating that "some of the Marvel directors were saying that this is their favorite version of the character." That, in and of itself, is a massive statement for Marvel to make, after the character of Wolverine has been interpreted across decades of comics, movies, animation, and video games, including Hugh Jackman's iconic portrayal that has largely defined the character for mainstream audiences.
