As revealed by the CloverWorks, Inc. Industry Panel at Anime Expo 2026, a new Neon Genesis Evangelionanime is on the way, this time without Hideaki Anno spearheading the series. Evangelion has been Anno's baby and passion project since 1995, with each mainline iteration of the series (the TV series, End of Evangelion, and Rebuild sub-series) all reflecting Anno's mental state at the time they were created. It goes without saying, but Evangelion is clearly a deeply personal story for Anno.
