CDPR is aiming to 'release 3 Witcher games within a 6 year period' but don't expect any expansions for the upcoming trilogy

It's been a big couple of days for Witcher fans as an expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was confirmed (after it was accidentally leaked on the RED Launcher, whoopsie). But thanks to a Q&A portion at the end of the financial call we also now know a bit more about CD Projekt Red's aspirational release timeline.
After CDPR joint CEO Michał Nowakowski answered some questions about the upcoming Songs of the Past, and stressed how it is an expansion, not a DLC, he went on to discuss other potential expansions for the series (via GamesRadar). But don't get your hopes up, because with CDPR's current timeline there likely won't be any space.
Someone asked Nowakowski, "Given the very ambitious project pipeline, does the company see room for developing expansions for the new Witcher saga?" To which he answered: "As you mentioned in the question, the plans are pretty ambitious. Specifically, it's to release three Witcher games within a six-year period. It would be difficult, to be very honest, for us to add an expansion to the upcoming trilogy. This is where we are here and now with this particular issue."
Yeah that's fair. If the schedule does go to plan that would mean fans of The Witcher would be getting a new game every couple of years, which is a pretty decent timeline. There's also nothing to say that CDPR won't go back to The Witcher 4 or subsequent games after the trilogy is complete and add expansions after the fact.
But at the same time it's probably a good idea to not get our hopes too high, as I'm rather doubtful that CDPR will actually be able to keep up with this schedule. Not because of any lack of faith, I'm just a natural pessimist and have seen a great deal of game delays in my medium to short life so far.
