Dragon Ball's creator, Akira Toriyama, has made manga history at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. 38 years since the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards began, legendary mangaka Akira Toriyama is finally being indicted into Eisner Awards' Hall of Fame for comic books. Toriyama joins a shortlist of Japanese artists the Eisner Awards have honored, including Osamu Tezuka, Kazuo Koike, Goseki Kojima, Katsuhiro Ōtomo, Rumiko Takahashi, Moto Hagio, Keiji Nakazawa, Shigeru Mizuki, Junji Ito, and Go Nagai.
